Parent Testimonials

“We were referred to Michelle when my daughter was about 10 months old for having issues with table food. Michelle instantly made me feel at ease and reassured me that this was more common than I realized. Michelle was so hands on trying to watch my daughter and her eating habits. I was afraid my daughter was going to choke and Michelle showed me appropriate ways to cut up the food and tools to use to introduce new ones. Michelle was also the only one who actually looked into my daughters mouth to make sure there were no other issues going on we may be missing. Michelle made me feel that if there was an underlying issue she would get to the bottom of it and do any test needed herself. I had complete confidence in her. Michelle is a wonderful specialist who I highly recommend. She is extremely knowledgeable and made such a difference for both me and my daughter.”

“My daughter as well as myself would not be where we are without Michelle Skeldon. We started our relationship with Michelle at Boston Children’s Hospital early on when my daughter Halle was 5 months old. I was a scared mother wondering if my child would ever be able to eat since she had a feeding tube since birth and the future was unknown with regard to her nerves and oral motor strength. Michelle is kind, patient, knowledgeable and safe at every treatment. She left Children’s and we followed her to Milford Regional Medical Center a year ago. At that point, my daughter was 2 yrs old and getting ready to start preschool. After just three sessions with Michelle, Halle picked up a spoon and fed herself independently for the first time. I trust her completely with the care of my child. Michelle has played an enormous role with Halle's development. At this point, Halle no longer has a feeding tube and we are now working on eating solids. Michelle's encouragement and dedication will stay with me forever.”

“Our 7 year old son has multiple diagnoses including spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and autism. Feeding has been a source of stress in our home from the time he was an infant. We were referred to Michelle Skeldon for feeding therapy a few years ago. She is one of the best therapists we have worked with over the years (and we have worked with many!). Michelle listened to our family’s concerns and created a program for our son that we were able to integrate into our home life. Over time, we were able to move him from a diet of baby food and yogurt to one that included, among other foods, fruits, vegetables and sandwiches. We would have thought that this was impossible when we started. Michelle challenged our son just the right amount and the results have been fantastic. Her dedication to his success was evident beyond the therapy room too; she created a feeding protocol for our son’s school to follow and implement in his IEP and she spoke with school staff frequently in order to address their questions. We strongly recommend Michelle for feeding therapy!”

"I am so grateful that I signed my son up for speech therapy with Michelle! Michelle is professional, prompt, provides excellent feedback, provides learning activities for home, and is a positive influence on my son. My son thoroughly enjoyed his biweekly speech therapy appointments. Although my son worked extremely hard to get to where he is, he found his speech sessions fun! Michelle always tailored the speech therapy sessions around my son’s interests (superheroes, animals, and more ). I am incredibly thankful for the services Michelle provided. Speech therapy “graduation” was bitter sweet. I was incredibly happy my son had come so far with his speech, yet knew my son would be disappointed to leave the fun behind at Michelle’s office. I hope other families get the opportunity to work with Michelle and find success!"

“We decided to visit a food specialist because our son was not eating a variety of foods. Upon entering Michelle’s office , we were met with heartfelt optimism and compassion. It was quite pleasant. We felt hopeful after dealing with so much discouragement on this issue with our 5 year old son. Michelle turned the topic of eating into a comfortable light experience. My son learned to taste and test different foods without the usual feeling of anxiety. This experience has enabled our son to have the confidence to try new foods with minimal anxiety and stress. We highly recommend Michelle as a Speech-Language Pathologist.”

What do you mean your son doesn’t like to eat? Just give him chocolate or ice cream he will eat that” Oh how I wished it was that easy. My son Brody has a very complex medical history. He had a breathing & feeding tube placed right at birth. He spent the first 7.5 months of life in the hospital. When he should have been home our baby was under going many surgeries to safe his life. Everything near his face was a negative experience. Brody has never had a pacifier or bottle. We were truly blessed to have Michelle following Brody and his progress while in the hospital. Once discharged we were able to see Michelle and start working on Brody taking food by mouth. It wasn’t a one time visit. It was many visits that lasted a few years. Some visits I would leave thinking “Brody will never get this. He will have a feeding tube for life” Other times I left almost doing a back flip because Brody licked a spoon with baby food on it! Every visit Michelle worked with Brody so carefully. She never pushed him to far! They would take breaks as needed. Be rewarded for his achievements! We would carry over his sessions at home. Work on it for the next week until we saw Michelle again. It was a team effort!! We finished up with Michelle and “food school” about 2 years ago. Brody’s feeding tube came out 1 1/2 years ago!! Our most recent nutrition appointment Brody gained 5 lbs in three months!! Woohoo!! Brody thinks ALL kids should go see Michelle at “food school”! She is the “BEST!”
